Warren Chappell (1904–1991) was an American illustrator and designer of books and types. In 1931–2 he studied type design and punch-cutting under Rudolf Koch in Offenbach. He ran his own studio before and after World War II, working on books for Knopf and Random House. His classic book, A Short History of the Printed Word was published in 1970, and recently updated by Robert Bringhurst.
