A Note on Our Books. We've been fortunate to work with writers you've read (Julia Alvarez, Haruki Murakami, and Eleanor Wilner) and writers you should read (Robin Barber and Tracey Knapp). Our books have original prints and drawings by over twenty different artists (which is too many to list). We've got books of poetry, short fiction, design, drawings, photography (in the works), stamps, and dogs. What else is there?

Kat Ran Press was founded in 1994 with the aim of combining contemporary art with classical typography via traditional bookmaking techniques. We've been very fortunate to do this for such a long period of time, but as we pondered issues of design, function, and use, we've decided to not limit ourselves to letterpress printing and handmade paper, and to incorporate modern methods of book production. Our materials and methods are still top of the line, and we still work with the best printers and binders. We just get things done faster.
